Vital Partners
Law enforcement, Fire, and Search and Rescue canines play a vital role in today's public service. They have been locating criminals, uncovering drugs and explosives, and finding crucial evidence and missing people while protecting the lives of both police officers and citizens alike for many years.
Difficult Public Service
During their career of public service, which lasts an average of 8-10 years, these courageous canines often suffer knee, leg, hip and back injuries while in the performance of their duties. Although treated at the time, these injuries result in a shorter life span and require further medical attention long after they retire.
No Retirement Benefits
Once retired, law enforcement agencies no longer provide veterinary coverage or other benefits for our canine heroes.
Retired K9 Heroes is a non-profit organization that assists with food, supplies, and expensive medical bills, which become the responsibility of the handler, once the canine is retired.
